Vasona YSI Field Trip

We had a great field trip at Vasona-YSI!  The students had a hands-on introduction to physics.  We were able to determine how Sound travels differently on/in different states of matter.  We also learned about Motion and the force of flight by creating a paper airplane and a paper rocket.  We also walked around Vasona Park to complete a Visual Scavenger Hunt!  

Value!

Monday we had our fifth Art Vistas lesson!  

This lesson focused on VALUE.  Value is the use of black and white.  The value of a color (hue) depends on how much black or white has been added to it (the relative “lightness” or “darkness” of a color).  Some of the other words we used to describe value are: shade (color + black) and tint (color + white).

Downward Dog

Have you ever seen a Downward Dog (Yoga pose) Tunnel?  Yes, that's our class making one, and to make sure we were in line, Mrs. T rolled a ball which made it all the way through!

  

Cornerstone Lesson

These pictures are from our cornerstone lesson this week on Reporting vs. Tattling.  The students also worked on team building exercise to see if they could build a tower with toothpicks, a rubber band, a paperclip and marshmallows; in 7 minutes or less. 
 

Lucky Leprechauns
