Week of February 26, 2018

Dear Families,

I hope you had a nice restful week!

Room 1 had a great Valentine’s Day! The students had fun passing out and reading their valentines. It definitely was a favorite day for first graders.

We will not have a homework packet and spelling this week. I will send home the President Report on Monday (and attach it as well). The President Report is the homework this week, as well as 20 minutes of reading each day. We will share these the following week (Week of March 5).

This week’s sharing is to verbally tell the class about something they did over President's Break. We will share all on Monday! Your child may bring in a picture or postcard if they wish. No clues are needed.

Read Across America is on Friday! I was hoping to have a guest reader each day this week. Please sign up here if you would like to read a story to our class this week (before dismissal).

Tuesday evening will be our Music Performance with our Music Teacher, Mrs. Able. Please arrive in the cafeteria at 6:15 and the show will begin at 6:30. Please let me know if you can’t make it. Students should wear their class t-shirts for the show.

Week of February 12, 2018

Dear Parents,

On Wednesday, we will be passing out Valentine Cards and working on Candy Math. I sent home a class list last week and I will also attach a copy, just in case. If you do make Valentines, please make sure you bring one to each child, so we don’t have any broken hearts.

Wednesday is also a Spirit Day, Wear Valentine colors and attire.

If you haven’t signed up for a conference yet, please do. Here is the link to Sign up http://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c084ea4ad28a7f49-spring1

Please let me know if the site isn’t working, I will let you know which times are available.

A big thanks to our parent volunteers this week!

Week of February 5, 2018

Dear Families,

I enjoyed seeing all of the One Hundred Day Posters. It was fun to see all the creative ways the students decorated them. I will send home their 100 words spelling test next week. They deserve big hugs for all their efforts! :)

We had a great Art Vistas lesson today on texture. The students enjoyed creating their own collage art. Thank you to Mrs. Timpano, Mrs. Li, and Mrs. Tang.

The Global Play Day is on Wednesday, February 7th. Students will have time to play and learn new games with their classmates. Your child is welcome to bring in a board game or puzzle to share that day. I also have many puzzles and board games in the classroom.

Because the Olympics will begin on Friday, February 9th, our Student Council is having a Spirit Day: Go Team USA, wear your red, white, and blue.

Don’t forget your library books for Monday.

Our classroom would love some donations of Kleenex and baby wipes.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
