Week of January 30, 2017

Dear Families,

This week we will be celebrating our 100th day of school throughout the week.  We will not have regular homework this week.  I showed the class some examples of the 100 posters from last year.  Don’t forget the 100 math facts.  J

We will take a spelling test on the 100 sight words.  We will work on 25 each day, Monday-Thursday.

Thank you for signing up for our 100th Day Snack, please bring the item by Thursday at drop off.

Here is the link to our conference schedule.

Thank you to all our awesome volunteers this week!  :)

I hope you have a great sunny weekend!

Week of January 23, 2017

Yesterday I sent home the poster and information on the 100th day of school. Please let me know if you have any questions.

We still have a few spots left on our 100th day snack list.  Here is the sign up, if you wish to contribute.  Thank you.

Also coming up the day before the 100th day of school is The Global Play Day (Feb. 1).  On this day, students will have time to play and learn new games with their classmates. Your child is welcome to bring in a board game or puzzle to share that day.  I also have many puzzles and board games.

On Monday I will send home a copy of our class list for Valentine cards.  We will have a card exchange on Tuesday, February 14th (not a party).  If your child would like to attach a piece of candy to their cards that’s okay too (please keep in mind that we have several students with nut allergies).

Thank you to all our awesome volunteers this week!  :)

I hope you have a great weekend!

Week of January 16, 2017

I wanted to mention again that I was so proud of our class yesterday, having no power all day, and continuing to try hard in class. Thanks again for the lanterns!!

Tomorrow is a Staff Work Day and students do not have school.

We will not be visiting the library this week because Monday is the MLK holiday, so your child may keep their checked book for the remainder of the week.

The President’s Report is due next week; please bring it on or before your child’s share date.  If your child’s regular share date is Monday, you can choose any day during the week.  If you need another copy, I will attach it to the email.

Coming around the corner, is the 100th Day of School on February 2nd!   During this week (1/30) we will not have our regular homework and spelling list.  I will be sending home information on Friday this week.

The other part of the homework for the week of 100th day is to study the 100 Sight Word List.  We will have a spelling test, using 25 words each day.

If you’re interested in helping out with SPARK PE on Fridays, you can sign up on our Shutterfly Shares site.

On the 100th day, I was hoping to make a 100th day snack with 100 items for each student.  If you’re interested in helping out with a donation, please see the items we need here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1g3rsRQ0_OzoCidZE-Ve09flkwbFJOLpFxQ49EU6yrxU/edit?usp=sharing

Our classroom could use more baby wipes and hand sanitizer.

I hope you will enjoy the four-day weekend.

Week of January 9, 2017

We have had a great week back to school, starting with the Smart Start Day and getting back to our routines.

Yesterday, I sent home homework packet #16, it will be due on Thursday January 12 or Tuesday January 17.

On Monday I will send home our President Report.  The President Report is due on January 17th.  Students will read their Report to the class on their share day (I will help them if needed).  Monday (1/16) is Martin Luther King Jr. Day and so students who normally share on Mondays will be able to choose any day during the week to read their Report.  I included a website that has good information about the presidents.  You can also view the report here

It looks as if we might be seeing more rain, soon!  If it is raining in the morning and our classroom door is open, please come on in.  If the door is closed, students should wait in the cafeteria.  Thank you.

Just as a reminder there is no school on Friday 1/13 (Staff Work Day) and Monday 1/16 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day).

I hope you have a great weekend!

Week of January 3, 2017

Welcome back to school and Happy New Year!  I hope you had a great holiday and were able to enjoy some time with your children.  I’ve heard about so many adventures, lost teeth, and relaxing time of your child's Winter Break memories.

Thank you for the gifts!  How did you know that Target is one of my favorite stores!  We also love Greek Food and Opa! Thank you for the sweets and beautiful homemade cards.  My Bears (and families) are very generous and thoughtful!

Today we had a fun day back to school with Smart Start.  Students were able to learn 3 different crafts or activities today.  Ask your child how they liked it, I had a fun time teaching students from other First Grade classes.

I will send home homework packet #15 on Friday.  It can be returned to school on Thursday (1/12).  If you need more time, please let me know.

You probably noticed the construction going on at our campus.  This is to create a STEAM lab for our school.  There is more information about it in our Vista Views.

Tonight is a Family Night, so no homework! J
