Week of June 3, 2019

Dear Families,
Wow! I can’t believe it’s already June!  Only 5 more days of school, and yes, we’ve been counting down.
Thank you for supporting your child today for our class play!  I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
We also had our last cornerstone lesson with our amazing Cornerstone teachers: Mrs. Joseph, Mrs. Korde, and Mrs. Smiley.  Our teachers reviewed all of the books and concepts that we learned throughout this year, had a new lesson on “pay it forward” with kindness, and a nice project of planting a seed and seeing how our flowers grow (like us) into unique individuals.
Here are some important dates:

Monday, June 3rd, we will have a substitute.  I will be on campus finishing up reading assessments.

Tuesday, June 4th (1:00-2:30) is our Class Party.  More information to come soon!
Wednesday, June 5th is Olympic Day!  Students need to wear their class t-shirt (or blue shirt), comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and hat (optional).  We will be outside from approximately 10:00-11:30.  Students will also have regular lunchtime from 12:00-12:50.  There will be a lot of time spent outside so please send a water bottle on this day.
Thursday, June 6th, we will have a ½ day sub (Mrs. Threet) after lunch because I will be attending my daughter, Madalena’s Kindergarten Promotion.
Friday, June 7th is the last day of First Grade!  Dismissal is at 12:15. We will dismiss before lunchtime.
Everyone in Room 1 returned his or her AV library books!  Thank you for your help!

Wishing you a nice weekend!

Tuesday, 6/4, 1:00, Class Party
Wednesday, 6/5, Olympic Day
Friday, 6/7, Last Day of School, 12:15 dismissal

Dear Families,

Just 9 more days of school!
Monday is Memorial Day and there is no school.
There is no more homework!  We did packet no. 30 in class today.  However, please continue to read every day.
Our class play, The Kapok Tree, will take place on Friday, May 31 at 8:30 am in our classroom.  The play will be about 25 minutes. We have been practicing in the classroom. Please help your child memorize their lines.  If your child is a reader, those lines do not need to be memorized but are able to pronounce the words at a nice (slower) pace.
Our class party will be on Tuesday, 6/4.
Olympic Day is coming up on Wednesday, 6/5.  We will wear our class t-shirts (or orange) that day.  The volunteer sign up should be coming out soon.

We had an assembly today from The Ned Show.  It was about having a growth mindset and being an upstander.  Here is their website if you’re interested in more information.

We worked on a fun project today with our buddies, making Puff Mobiles (paper cars).  I hope you were able to see your child’s video on Seesaw.
We noticed the math page in our homework packet was missing some numbers, I'll attach a picture below if you have any questions.
