Week of January 29, 2018
Dear Families,
The 100th Day is on Tuesday!
The poster is due on Monday, January 29. Please let me know if you have any questions or if you need more time.
We will take a spelling test on the 100 sight words. We will work on 25 each day, Monday-Thursday.
We still have a few spots left on our 100th-day snack list. Here is the sign-up, if you wish to contribute. Thank you.
On Monday I will send home a copy of our class list for Valentine cards. We will have a card exchange on Wednesday, February 14th (not a party). If your child would like to attach a piece of candy to their cards that’s okay too (please keep in mind that we have several students with nut allergies and nut items are not allowed in our classroom).
Thank you to all our awesome volunteers this week! :)
I hope you have a great weekend!

Week of January 22, 2018
Dear Families,
Today I sent home homework packet #16 for next week.
Coming up, is the 100th Day of School on January 30th! We’ll be 100 Days Smarter!! :) During this week (1/29) we will not have our regular homework and spelling list. I sent home information yesterday and the poster today.
The other part of the homework for the week of the 100th day is to study the 100 Sight Word List. We will have a spelling test, using 25 words each day.
On the 100th day, I was hoping to make a 100th-day snack with 100 items for each student. If you’re interested in helping out with a donation, please see the items we need here.
Our classroom would love a few boxes of soft tissues.
Please remember to pack your child’s AV Library book for Monday morning - if it’s not already at school.
I hope you have a nice weekend.

Week of January 15, 2018
Dear Parents,
We have had a great week back to school, starting with the Smart Start Day and getting back to our routines.
Today, I sent home homework packet #15, it will be due on Friday, January 19.
On Tuesday, we will have a sub because I have a meeting at the District Office. Mrs. Threet, a former first-grade teacher at Alta Vista will be with our class on Tuesday.
It looks as if we might be seeing more rain, soon! If it is raining in the morning and our classroom door is open, please come on in. If the door is closed, students should wait in the cafeteria. Thank you.
Just as a reminder there is no school on Monday 1/15 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day.)
I hope you have a great weekend!

Week of January 8, 2018
Dear Families,
Happy New Year! I hope you had a great holiday and were able to enjoy some time with your children. I’m looking forward to learning about your child's Winter Break memories.
Thank you for all the gifts! My Bears (and families) are very generous and thoughtful! My family also enjoyed eating all of the delicious goodies that you shared.
On Monday we will have a fun day back to school with Smart Start. Students will rotate through all four first grade classes and participate in different crafts or activities. If any parent volunteers are interested in helping our class walk through the different classes, please let me know. The times are from 8:45-10:30, 11:00-11:50, and 1:00-1:50. Here is the link to Sign Up.
Because of Smart Start, we will not have our regular scheduled Library Time or Centers on Monday.
Although Monday is Family Night (No homework), I will send home homework packet #14. It can be returned to school on Tuesday (1/16). If you need more time, please let me know.
Thank you and looking forward to seeing you on Monday!
